Check out all my new work from this year! Hit the FOR SALE button and let me know if there is a piece that speaks to you and that you need! I have been pumping out 20” x 20” canvases and loving it. I was inspired to create a three-part series called Rest, Grow and Breathe. I feel like we have been hitting the ground running now that things are going into a “new normal.” And we need reminders that we are still growing, breathing and need rest.
Another set of canvases are inspired by Louisville and how we get all gussied up for the Oaks and Derby. From Louisville Business First: “The fleur-de-lis is a symbol of French royalty and was widely used by Louisville's namesake, King Louis XVI, in the 18th Century to represent unity, light and perfection. In 2003, the city of Louisville and Jefferson County merged, and the fleur-de-lis was chosen to represent the consolidation of the two governments.
I also wanted to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos this year because our daughter is now at a Spanish immersion school. We loved setting up an altar to honor our loved ones. These two canvases are jumping points for more ideas I have to honor our loved ones and to inspire others to do the same.
There are tons of ideas coming from my studio now that I have it set up and semi-organized. Come by and see me at Mellwood on Open Studio nights (I will publish which ones I will be set up for specific months).
I decided to get back into my original ideas from 2019 to get back into art shows for 2023. Now that things have opened up and events are back, it takes a bunch of energy and work to get to those shows.
The next place I will be is Art in the Pass in Pass Christian, MS. It is a great show and I look forward to meeting new people, the Southern hospitality and spending time with our family. We also will be going over to NOLA to get more inspiration and eat wonderful food and hear all the music.
Be ready for more work from my studio 254 this year!
