This 22” x 28” mixed media piece is one that I started during the Pandemic showing the darkness of all of it that we are collectively feeling. Years ago, I had a conversation with a friend who couldn’t decide about two pairs of shoes to purchase. She really wanted the red boots, but she felt the black ones were more subtle and would go with more outfits. I told her when she’s older, she will probably wished she would’ve just bought the damn red boots. So BUY THE RED BOOTS became a motto in my head afterwards. And when things get dark, try to find the one umbrella with some color. Those people help make the world a more colorful, joyful, artistic place. And even in those people, they have troubles too, sometimes their umbrellas will still be open, but we need to help them upright them when showers come. (sorry about the poor image, more to come eventually)

Details of Buy the Red Boots are of the watercolor paper piece that I added in color… the others are all drawn with graphite pencil. There are also little dots of gloss to represent rain drops… by dropping some adhesive on and letting it dry. It is mounted and matted with a gray matt and black frame.

This is in a large heavy frame, so I will add for delivery costs or pick up locally in Louisville.
